The Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, has honoured winners of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorisation, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran.
The ceremony, held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, was conducted under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.


Speaking at the event, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, said the competition demonstrated the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting the Holy Quran, supporting those who memorise it and encouraging its values of guidance and righteousness.
He said the number of winners had increased from 12 to 50, while the total prize money rose from 1.1 million Saudi riyals to more than 10 million riyals.

He said the increased prize money reflected the Kingdom’s commitment to recognising Quran memorisers and supporting major international Quranic competitions.
The ceremony ended with Prince Saud bin Mishaal presenting honours to the winners and members of the judging panel.
