Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hathleen, wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has honoured the female winners of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorising, Reciting and Interpreting the Quran.
The ceremony, held in Makkah on Wednesday evening, marked the conclusion of the women’s section of the competition organised by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance.
In a recorded address, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, said the 46th edition marked the first time the competition had featured international female participation alongside a dedicated closing ceremony for female contestants.
He congratulated the contestants on their participation, stressing that the significance of memorising the Quran extends beyond recitation to reflecting its teachings through knowledge, conduct, morals and behaviour.
The minister also urged the contestants to serve as positive examples and promote values of goodness in their respective countries.
The ceremony opened with a recitation from the Quran before the presentation of honours to the female winners.
