The Niger State First Lady in North Central Nigeria, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has expanded access to safe water in the Edati Local Government Area through the rehabilitation and drilling of motorized boreholes across the ten wards of the council.
The projects, initiated and funded by the Givernor’s Wife, were commissioned during a visit to the Edati Local Government area by some government officials and the Russian Embassy and the Coordinator of Niger State-Russia Relations, Mrs. Natalia Yisa.
As part of its contribution, Eshe, a women’s health technology company, donated ten water tanks to complement the intervention.
According to the partners, the initiative is aimed at improving access to basic services that directly impact the well-being of women, children, and families.
The intervention underscores the First Lady’s continued focus on community-level development, particularly investments that address everyday challenges faced by vulnerable households.
For Eshe, the support represents an extension of its commitment to women’s health beyond digital platforms.
The company, which provides reliable and culturally relevant health information through digital tools, said the water project links its health mandate to addressing social determinants of health.
During the commissioning, the delegation observed the impact of the intervention at the community level and explored areas for deeper collaboration between Niger State and development partners.
The Edati water project is expected to attract more innovative organizations whose interventions can complement government investments and deliver tangible benefits to communities across the state.
