A socio-political group, Dahiri Omo Ilorin, has called for support for the governorship ambition of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, ahead of the 2027 election.
The group made the call during an “Ilorin Emirate Stakeholders Chat with SYD” in Ilorin, themed “One Ilorin, One Voice: Unity, Development, and the Future of Kwara”.
The event attracted government officials, political leaders, traditional chiefs and kingmakers, community and religious leaders, as well as various support groups.
The State Banquet Hall in Ilorin, venue of the event, was filled to capacity, with participants also entertained with cultural songs.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is the group’s Grand Patron, was represented by his Senior Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Sa’adu Salau, while the APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Seun Ogunniyi Adato, represented Danladi.
Among those present were the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muh’d Bashir Dasuki; Magaji Are of Ilorin, Alhaji Shuaib Aremu Zubair; Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Dr Usman Atolagbe Jos; Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulwahab; and Baba Isale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Sidiq.
Also present were members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, led by the Majority Leader, Abdulkadir Oba Magaji; Grand Matron of the group, Mariam Yusuf Aladi; Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Alhaji Bashir Adigun; and Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Danmeigoro.
Others included the Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa; State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, who was represented by the APC Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Babatunde Abdulwaheed; Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Sai Kai; Chief of Staff at the Federal Ministry of Youth, Mallam Muhammed Funsho Abdullahi; and General Manager of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASIP), Dr Abdulwasiu Tejidini.
Leaders Seek Unity, Development
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Dasuki, who offered the opening prayer, prayed for continued guidance for the Governor and success in his tenure.
He also prayed for the success of the Governor’s senatorial ambition and other candidates of the party, as well as continued peace, unity and development in the Emirate and Kwara State.
Speaking through his aide, Salau, Governor AbdulRazaq described the gathering as another demonstration of support for the APC-led administration in the state and thanked participants for their turnout.
He said Danladi’s candidacy was divinely inspired and had received royal blessings and broad support across the state.
“This gathering shows that Ilorin indigenes are united for good, and are solidly behind our administration,” he said.
Danladi Promises Continuity
Speaking on behalf of Danladi, Ogunniyi Adato appreciated the organisers and people of the Emirate for their support for the APC governorship candidate.
He promised that the administration would prioritise the wellbeing of citizens and build on the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq if elected.
Prince Fagbemi, through the APC Publicity Secretary who represented him, described Governor AbdulRazaq as a son of the Ilorin Emirate and commended his administration.
He expressed confidence that Danladi would build on the Governor’s achievements if given the mandate.
“One good turn deserves another. We should ensure that our vote in Kwara Central helps our Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to win as Senator in the 2027 general elections. We should equally vote for SYD and other candidates of our party. They will not let you down,” Fagbemi said.
Group Advocates Inclusive Politics
The Coordinator of Dahiri Omo Ilorin for SYD, Mallam Abdulmajeed Arikewuyo Abdulfatai, said Danladi’s emergence from Kwara North represented equity, fairness and justice.
He said consultations across Ilorin indicated that people of the Emirate wanted unity, fairness and an inclusive future.
