COVID 19: Medical Expert discourages public against self medication

Permanent Secretary Ebonyi State Ministry of Health, Dr Chris Achi has called on the people of the State and all Nigerians to eschew self medication.

Dr Achi gave this advise while briefing Journalists on the adverse effects of COVID 19 in this hammatan period.

The medical Expert said this second wave of COVID 19 is deadlier than the first time it came.

“We should take into cognisance that hammatan is everywhere and the virus seems to survive more in a cold region, we should be careful not to be a victim,” he said.

He advised that people should subject themselves for medical screening each time they notice any symptom of ill-health.

“Self medication has kill good number of people, sometimes, you may be treating malaria without knowing that it something else.

Other viral diseases has killed a lot of people because they decided to treat themselves wrongly. You should know that early detection of any disease enhance treatment and quick recovery of such patient,” he added.

TAKING ALCOHOL AS PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO COVID 19

The medical Expert advised that excessive intake of alcohol would even damage your liver and lughms.

He said you can only use alcohol based hand sanitiser as one of the preventive measures against  COVID 19 not taking it as drink.

He called on people who patronise eateries to rather use take- aways in lieu of crowding the place.

He advised that all COVID 19 protocols as directed by Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC should be observed.
