The Emir of Fufore, Muhammadu Sani Ribadu, has conferred the first female traditional title in the history of the Fufore Emirate on Mrs Peace Audu, Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Mrs Audu, the only female local government chairperson in Adamawa State, was turbaned as Jaruma Fuunange during a ceremony held in Fufore.
Speaking at the event, the emir said the title was bestowed on Audu in recognition of her dedication to community development, humanitarian service and cordial relationship with the people of the area.

He described the honour as a collective decision of the people of Fufore aimed at appreciating her contributions to the growth and well-being of communities within the emirate.
“This title is not a personal decision but a collective one from the people of Fufore.
“You have impacted lives and invested in communities. Today, your hard work is evident and we can only appreciate you by honouring you with this prestigious title, the first of its kind as Jaruma Fuunange of Fufore,” he stated.
Responding, Audu expressed gratitude to the emir and the people of the emirate for the honour bestowed on her.
“It is with great joy, humility and gratitude that I receive the prestigious traditional title of Jaruma Fuunange.
“I am deeply honoured by the confidence and trust shown in me by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Fufore, Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu, in conferring this respected title on me.
“I sincerely thank you for this rare honour. I will cherish it for the rest of my life and do my best to uphold its dignity.
“As I accept this honour today, I do so with renewed determination to serve with humility, fairness and compassion.
“I pray that Almighty God grants me the wisdom, strength and good health to live up to the responsibilities that come with this noble title,” she pledged.
Audu also expressed appreciation to Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for providing her the opportunity to serve the people.
“I also express my heartfelt appreciation to Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his visionary leadership and for giving me the opportunity and platform to serve and impact the lives of my people,” she added.
The chairperson described the title as a call to greater service, noting that leadership required sacrifice, integrity, compassion and commitment to the welfare of the people.
She pledged to uphold the rich culture, traditions and values of the Fufore Emirate and to continue promoting peace, unity, women empowerment, youth development and community progress.
Audu also promised to strengthen collaboration between the traditional institution and government in advancing development across the area.
