Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has emphasised the critical role of women in nation-building, calling for sustained investment in women’s empowerment and healthy living initiatives to accelerate Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
The governor said women remain central to family stability, healthcare delivery, economic growth and community development, noting that policies and programmes that empower women and promote healthy lifestyles are essential for national progress.
Governor Soludo made the remarks in a goodwill message marking the 56th birthday of his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative.
He commended her contributions to preventive healthcare, healthy nutrition, maternal and child welfare, environmental sanitation and humanitarian service, describing her advocacy as impactful in improving the well-being of families in Anambra State and beyond.
“Happy Birthday to my partner, my strength, my greatest blessing, Nonye Soludo.

“Today, I celebrate a woman whose heart beats for humanity. Your quiet service, compassion, and relentless advocacy for the health and dignity of Ndi Anambra have touched lives in ways words cannot fully capture.
“Beyond public service, you are home to me. Thank you for the love, prayers, wisdom, and the steady hands that hold our family together.
“As you mark another year, my prayer is that God continues to bless you with health, joy, and grace. Anambra is better because you are in it.
“I love you, today and always,” the governor said.
Through the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, the First Lady has led campaigns promoting preventive healthcare, healthy nutrition, environmental sanitation, maternal and child health, and behavioural change aimed at improving public health outcomes.
In her birthday message, Dr. Nonye Soludo reaffirmed her commitment to expanding programmes that promote healthier families, empower women and children, and strengthen communities through preventive healthcare and humanitarian interventions.
She described the occasion as an opportunity for gratitude, reflection and renewed commitment to service.
“I celebrate the priceless gift of life and the grace that has carried me through every season. I’m deeply grateful to God for His unfailing love, my family, friends and everyone whose kindness, prayers and support have enriched my journey.
“As I begin another chapter, my heart remains committed to serving with compassion, lifting others and making every opportunity count. I look ahead with hope, renewed strength and a grateful heart, trusting that the best is yet to come,” she said.
Dr. Soludo also thanked the people of Anambra State and other well-wishers for their goodwill and prayers, pledging to sustain programmes that promote healthy living, empower women and children, support vulnerable groups and contribute to national development.
