The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has deployed Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale Etaifo to Osun State to coordinate security operations ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The deployment is part of the Force’s comprehensive election security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process across the state.
CP Etaifo will oversee election security and work closely with other security agencies and key stakeholders to protect voters, election officials, and sensitive electoral materials throughout the exercise.
The Police clarified that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, (CP) Ibrahim Gotan, will remain in charge of the state command. He will continue supervising routine policing while providing administrative and operational support for the election assignment.
The Force directed all officers deployed for election duties to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, impartiality, and strict compliance with the law, including the Code of Conduct for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty.
Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Olatunji Disu, urged political actors, residents, and other stakeholders to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
He said, “We urge all stakeholders to cooperate fully with security agencies to ensure a safe, credible, and successful governorship election in Osun State.”
