Anambra State is set to host Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for the launch of the Nigerian Government’s National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East.

The visit will also feature the commissioning of an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and the flag-off of an empowerment programme for 5,000 beneficiaries across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Anambra Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor, disclosed this in a statement.

The food bank programme will provide food assistance and nutrition education to vulnerable groups, including widows, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers and children. Agricultural support will also form part of the initiative.

At the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the First Lady is expected to commission an ICT Centre designed to provide training in software development, data analysis, digital marketing and remote-work skills.

She will also flag off an empowerment programme led by the Anambra State First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, at Ekwueme Square, Awka.

The programme will provide grants, vocational tools and equipment to 5,000 beneficiaries engaged in agriculture and agro-processing, beauty care and other small-scale businesses.

The activities are expected to strengthen ongoing federal and state efforts to improve food security, digital skills and economic empowerment in Anambra State and across the South-East.
