Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has joined 14 other first-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, while urging Nigerians to remain steadfast in support of the administration’s economic reforms despite current hardships.
The endorsement was announced in a communiqué issued after a meeting of the governors in Birnin Kebbi and read by the host governor, Nasir Idris.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the governors unanimously backed the continuation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027, describing the administration’s reforms as critical to Nigeria’s long-term economic recovery.
The governors acknowledged that Nigerians have endured significant sacrifices as a result of ongoing economic reforms but maintained that the measures are necessary to correct longstanding fiscal and developmental challenges facing the country.
According to the communiqué, the reforms are aimed at stabilising the economy, restoring public finances, attracting investment, boosting productivity and improving national security.

The governors said their endorsement of President Tinubu’s second-term bid was informed by the need for courageous leadership, continuity in policy implementation and stronger collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.
They called on Nigerians to look beyond the temporary economic discomfort and remain committed to the reform agenda, expressing confidence that the policies would ultimately deliver sustainable economic recovery, shared prosperity and democratic stability.
On security, the governors expressed concern over the persistent threats of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and attacks on schools, pledging to strengthen collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers and local communities to safeguard lives and property.
They also condemned the abduction of children, attacks on educational institutions and other criminal activities undermining peace, education and economic development across the country.
The meeting further denounced reported attacks and hostility against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa, calling on the South African authorities to protect law-abiding residents and ensure justice for victims.
