The All Progressives Congress (APC) Oyo State Gubernatorial Primaries Reconciliation Committee has intensified efforts to restore unity within the party following the party’s governorship primaries, holding separate consultative meetings with some of the governorship aspirants.
The committee, in a communiqué issued and jointly signed by its co-Chairmen, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Professor Taoheed Adedoja, said the consultations were in line with the terms of reference given to it by the state chapter of the APC.
In the communique, the committee said it met with Engr Rauf Olaniyan, Prince Asatola Asanke, Dr Usman Bakare, Mr Hakeem Alao, and Dr Ayobami Lam-Adesina at meetings held on Wednesday, 8 July and Friday, 10 July 2026, noting that Dr Kolapo Kareem, one of the aspirants, had earlier aligned with the party’s governorship candidate.

The committee disclosed that the aspirants expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the governorship primaries and had raised several concerns over the process and outcome, appealing to the reconciliation panel to address the issues in the interest of strengthening the unity within the party.
Despite their grievances, the aspirants reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement with the committee, expressing readiness to explore practical avenues for reconciliation, cooperation and party cohesion.
The reconciliation committee assured all parties of its commitment to handling the process with sincerity, transparency and objectivity, stressing that every submission and concern will receive fair consideration.
As part of efforts to deepen the reconciliation process, the aspirants unanimously agreed that they will honour any invitation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss their concerns, in order to finally resolve the issues.
The Committee resolved to continue consultations with other governorship aspirants who were unable to attend the initial meetings, as well as other critical stakeholders whose input would be vital to achieving lasting peace within the party, in furtherance of its mandate.
It further pledged to engage the appropriate leadership of the APC and communicate the concerns and positions of the aspirants to the party’s leadership, including the party’s national leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Committee expressed optimism that the ongoing reconciliation exercise will promote peace, unity and progress within the Oyo State chapter of the APC ahead of future political activities.
