According to the official results, the APC candidate defeated his closest challenger, Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who polled 268 votes, while Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP) garnered 98 votes.

Declaring the result, Professor Sani said: “That Rabiu Shuaibu of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who passed away after a prolonged illness.

The election was generally peaceful, with voters turning out across polling units in Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas to elect a new representative for the federal constituency.
