APC to Conduct 2026 Presidential Primaries Across 8,809 Wards

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that its 2026 Presidential primaries will be conducted through direct exercise across the country’s 8,809 wards.

According to the document signed by the APC’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, all registered APC members will be eligible to vote for the presidential aspirant of their choice during the exercise.

The party stated that “results from the wards would be collated at the local government level before being transmitted to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja on May 24, 2026.”

Under the approved guidelines, state coordinators and collation officers will oversee the conduct of the primaries in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Former Senate President, Senator Pius Anyim, was named Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, while former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and other party chieftains were appointed as members.

The APC also constituted a Presidential Primary Election Appeal Committee chaired by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari.

Among Governors and Political leaders appointed as state coordinators are Hope Uzodimma for Imo State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for Kwara, Babagana Zulum for Borno, Monday Okpebholo for Edo, Caleb Mutfwang for Plateau and Dauda Lawal for Zamfara.
