The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda and commitment to youth inclusion, as the City Boy Movement reaffirmed its target of mobilising at least 10 million youth votes in support of his re-election in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the movement at an event tagged “An Evening with the Original City Boy,” held at the State House, Abuja, Olawande expressed support for the administration’s policies and programmes, declaring, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.”
The Minister commended President Tinubu for expanding opportunities for young Nigerians to participate in governance, describing his appointment into the Federal Executive Council as a demonstration of the President’s confidence in the capacity of the younger generation to contribute to national leadership.

Olawande thanked the President for his commitment to youth inclusion and for providing opportunities for young people to serve in his administration, conveying the appreciation of the City Boy Movement for what he described as the President’s confidence in their abilities.
Also addressing the gathering, the National Co-Patron of the City Boy Movement, Amir Kashim Shettima, pledged the organisation’s full commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election campaign, assuring that members would deploy their organisational strength towards securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

Shettima described the forthcoming electioneering period as a major responsibility for the movement, expressing appreciation to the President for what he described as growing enthusiasm among supporters.
He claimed that while opposition political parties had to expend resources attracting crowds to their events, the City Boy Movement was experiencing overwhelming participation, requiring organisers to regulate attendance in the interest of members’ safety.
“As we approach this campaign season, I want to assure Mr President, on behalf of myself and the many members of the City Boy Movement, that this is the biggest assignment of our lives. Without a doubt, we will give 100 per cent of our effort to ensure victory at the polls,” Shettima declared.

Giving further insight into the movement’s mobilisation efforts, its Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, announced that the organisation had registered 4.6 million members nationwide, describing the milestone as a significant boost to its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the theme “Youth, Unity, Action: Building a Stronger and More Prosperous Nigeria,” Shoga said that the movement had engaged over 50,000 young Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones through its Renewed Hope Youth Tour, while strengthening grassroots structures across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and 774 local government areas.
“We are not merely counting members; we are building responsible citizens,” he declared.
Beyond political mobilisation, the Director-General commended the Tinubu administration’s reforms in infrastructure, education, agriculture, domestic refining and investment promotion, while advocating increased opportunities for competent young Nigerians to participate in governance and public service.
“We respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to recognise the contributions of the Movement and, as opportunities arise, consider competent and qualified members for meaningful roles in public service and governance,” he stated.
Shoga also acknowledged the contributions of the movement’s patron, Seyi Tinubu, to youth engagement and empowerment, pledging to sustain nationwide mobilisation through digital platforms, community outreach and grassroots participation.
He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to peaceful political engagement, assuring that its expanding membership and nationwide structures would support efforts to deliver the targeted 10 million youth votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
