Cross River, Ebonyi Governors Urge Muslims to Promote Peace

The Governors of Cross River and Ebonyi states have urged Muslims to draw lessons from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad by promoting peace, compassion, tolerance, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate Eid al-Maulud.

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, described the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on the Prophet’s virtues of faith, humility, sacrifice and service to humanity.

Governor Otu urged Muslims to embrace love, generosity and justice, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to “inclusiveness, mutual respect and religious harmony.”

Also felicitating with Muslims, the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, urged Muslims in the state, across Nigeria and beyond to take the celebration as a spiritual reminder of sacrifice, humility, compassion, obedience and submission to Allah.

Governor Nwifuru called on Muslims and other Nigerians to promote peace, forgiveness, brotherhood and unity beyond religious, ethnic and political differences.

He urged citizens “to support vulnerable members of society and sustain peace and security in the state.”

The Ebonyi Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring equal dignity, security, opportunity and a sense of belonging for all citizens, irrespective of their faith, ethnicity or social status.

The Leader of Hausa Community in Ebonyi state, Alhaji Danjuma Gambo said the season is time of sobber reflection and as such all Muslims should use the period to thank God and pray for more blessings of God to all Nigerians.

Gambo urged all Citizens, irrespective of your political and religious affiliation to always love one another and live in harmony.
