The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice over the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, as a delegation led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, paid condolence visit to the late General’s family along with the Katsina State Government.
The visit followed the announcement by Defence Headquarters of the death of Major General Abubakar (rtd), who lost his life in captivity after his abduction, with the Armed Forces of Nigeria pledging intensified efforts against those responsible.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the DHQ delegation conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family and the government and people of Katsina State.

At the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the late senior officer as a patriotic and dedicated military officer whose career contributed significantly to the development of the Nigerian Army and Nigeria’s security architecture.
The Chief of Administration assured the family that the Armed Forces and relevant security agencies would continue efforts to ensure that those responsible for the General’s death are brought to justice.
He also presented a National Flag to the family in recognition of Major General Abubakar’s service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the support extended during the difficult period.

The delegation later visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, on behalf of the state governor.
The Deputy Governor described the death of Major General Abubakar as a major loss to Katsina State and Nigeria, while calling for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to address terrorism and criminal activities.
He assured the delegation of the state government’s continued support for military and security operations aimed at restoring peace across the North-West region.
Major General Abdullahi thanked the Katsina State Government for its cooperation, noting that sustained partnership between security agencies and state authorities remains critical to achieving lasting stability.

The visit comes after Defence Headquarters, in a statement signed by the Director Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, reaffirmed the resolve of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to intensify operations against terrorist networks following the death of the retired General.
