The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to kick off its 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna, with attention focused on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s opening speech as he seeks re-election for a second term.
Party leaders and supporters have gathered at Ranchers Bees Stadium, widely known as the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the rally, as the APC begins its nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General election.
The venue has taken on a carnival-like atmosphere, with music, dancing and colourful displays by supporters and contingents from different states. The supporters, dressed in outfits bearing party colours and insignia, await the arrival of the President and other party leaders.
VON Correspondents observed that ”security operatives initially restricted access to the stadium but later eased entry for journalists and party supporters, allowing the venue to fill up.”
A veteran journalist, Tajudeen Tijani, said supporters appeared eager to hear the President’s opening campaign speech, which he described as the major highlight of the event.
He also expressed confidence that the arrangements at the venue pointed to an orderly gathering.
“People are eager to hear the President’s opening campaign speech for the 2027 election,” he said.
A party supporter, Audu Garba, expressed hope that the rally would proceed peacefully and strengthen unity among party members.
The Kaduna rally marks the beginning of the APC’s campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with ”the party seeking to consolidate its support base and mobilise voters for Tinubu’s re-election bid.”
Attention will be on the President’s address and the campaign priorities he outlines as the ruling party begins its push for another four years in office.
