The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) senatorial aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Juliet Hasana-Moneme, has pledged to prioritise skills acquisition, economic empowerment and improved access to credit facilities for women if elected to the Senate.
Moneme made the pledge during a media engagement organised by the League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA), where she outlined her plans to strengthen opportunities for women across the FCT.
“Every woman in the FCT should hold me accountable for women skills acquisition, for women empowerment, and for women access to credit facilities or grants that are available in the city,” she said.

The senatorial aspirant explained that her empowerment strategy would begin with the creation of a comprehensive database covering residents across the six area councils, wards and communities of the FCT.
According to her, the database would help identify the needs of residents and connect them with available opportunities, including education, credit facilities and other support programmes.
Moneme said the initiative would also enable government and community stakeholders to design interventions that respond effectively to the needs of the people.
The senatorial aspirant further pledged to promote constituency empowerment programmes built on sustainability rather than one-time handouts.
Drawing from her experience in community development, she advocated a revolving-fund model that would allow beneficiaries to repay resources received, making the funds available to support other residents.
“My experience working with women and young people has shown that sustainable empowerment requires more than simply distributing money to beneficiaries,” the senatorial aspirant noted.
Moneme further explained that her goal was to connect the potential of residents with the resources, skills and opportunities needed to build sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic wellbeing.
“My objective is to connect the potential of residents with the resources, skills and opportunities required to build sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic wellbeing,” she stated.
She stressed that effective representation should focus on creating systems that empower people to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
