The former Minister of Water Resources, Mukhtar Shagari, has commended Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his determination and sustained efforts to transform the state through interventions across key sectors.

Shagari, in a statement made available to journalists in Sokoto by his Media Aide, Musa Ubandawaki, noted that the administration had recorded significant achievements in education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare and environmental sanitation.

He said the initiatives were aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and creating a foundation for sustainable development in the state.

According to him, the administration’s investments in the education sector, including the rehabilitation and upgrading of schools as well as the provision of learning facilities, would improve access to quality education.

Shagari also applauded the government’s agricultural interventions, particularly the distribution of fertiliser and pesticides to farmers, describing support for agriculture as critical to food security and poverty reduction.

He emphasised that strengthening agricultural production would improve rural livelihoods and contribute to Nigeria’s efforts to achieve food security.

On healthcare, Shagari acknowledged the government’s efforts to improve health infrastructure and expand access to essential medical services.

He noted that a healthy population was critical to achieving meaningful economic and social development.

Shagari also praised the administration’s programmes in religious affairs and social welfare, particularly those targeted at vulnerable persons, orphans and disadvantaged families.

He said the government’s investments in roads, water supply, housing, markets, electricity and other infrastructure would facilitate the movement of people and goods, stimulate economic activities and attract investment.

Shagari further urged residents to complement the government’s efforts by embracing proper waste disposal practices, maintaining environmental cleanliness and protecting public infrastructure.
