Governor Mohammed Bago has issued an executive order for the creation of the Niger State Entertainment Council.
He announced it during a courtesy visit by entertainers from Niger State to the Government House in Minna.
The Governor, referred to as ‘Farmer Governor’, stressed the importance of the entertainment industry. He also approved the building of a modern recording studio in Niger State and pledged support for capacity-building training programmes for entertainers.

He further approved N500 million as take-off funding for the Niger State Creative Grant Scheme. He also announced the appointment of a coordinator and senior special assistant for Zones B and C to ensure broader representation.
The Farmer Governor urged the entertainers to ensure that all All Progressives Congress candidates are elected in the 2027 general elections.
He thanked the group for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting them and developing the industry in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Pro-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Prof. Mohammed Yahaya, said the state is endowed with talented entertainers.
He, however, noted that the full potential of the entertainment sector has not yet been tapped in the state.
Prof. Kuta Yahaya stated that entertainers in Niger State have received significant and exceptional support from the current administration.
Also speaking, Alhaji Baba Yahaya said state entertainers have endorsed the Farmer Governor for a second term, citing his outstanding performance across all sectors of the economy.
He stated that the Farmer Governor has demonstrated unprecedented support for the group since taking office.
Alhaji Baba Yahaya pledged the total support of all entertainers in the state to secure the Governor’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
He used the occasion to call for greater inclusion and proposed the establishment of the Niger State Entertainment Council as a statutory executive body to provide structure for the group.
Alhaji Baba Yahaya said the council would serve as the top regulatory and development body for the creative sector in the state.
He also proposed the creation of the Niger State Creative Grant Scheme and urged the state government to provide initial seed funding of between N500 million and N1 billion.
He explained that the scheme would offer financial support to members to develop their talents and grow the entertainment industry.
He added that a regulatory framework should be put in place to safeguard investments and promote professionalism.
