The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has intensified efforts to strengthen security, improve child nutrition, boost agricultural productivity and expand electricity access across the country.
The resolutions was reached at the 2nd NGf meeting held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
In a communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, read by the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, the governors disclosed that they had reviewed ongoing consultations on the establishment of State police.
The governors stressed the need for a framework that is constitutionally sound and consistent with the principles of federalism and the protection of citizens’ rights.
The governors said presentations by the NGF Secretariat and State Attorneys-General highlighted progress made on proposed amendments and implementation frameworks, expressing confidence that ongoing consultations would strengthen the collective position of States on the issue.

On nutrition, the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to tackling child malnutrition through the National Nutrition 774 Initiative (N774). Governors also noted ongoing efforts to pass the National Nutrition Bill and called for sustained collaboration with stakeholders to strengthen the legal and policy framework for nutrition governance.
The Forum also received a briefing from the World Bank Country Office on the proposed Country Partnership Framework for Nigeria covering the period 2026 to 2032.
Governors considered the Nigeria Sustainable Agribusiness Value Chain for Growth (AGRO) Programme, which aims to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen value chains, increase private sector participation and enhance food security.
The governors also pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Government, the World Bank and other partners to ensure successful implementation of the programme and approved state-specific interventions.
They emphasized the need for better coordination across health, nutrition, education, water and sanitation, social protection and family support systems.
In the energy sector, the Forum considered the National Solar Supergrid Initiative, which seeks to expand electricity access through large-scale solar power generation integrated into a national high-voltage transmission network.
According to the governors, the initiative has the potential to drive industrialization, improve energy security, strengthen State electricity markets and accelerate economic growth.
They reiterated their support for ongoing power sector reforms and pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to provide reliable and affordable electricity to Nigerians.
