Healthy Living Initiative Distributes Over 25,000 Seed Packs in Anambra

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Dr Nonye Soludo, has said that more than 25,000 free hybrid, non-GMO seed packs have been distributed to households, schools and communities across Anambra State to promote food sufficiency, healthy living and economic empowerment.

Dr. Soludo stated this in Awka while reacting to a testimonial by a beneficiary of the programme, Mrs Ngozi Obiano, describing the feedback as a reflection of the impact the initiative has made since its inception.

According to her, the programme was conceived to encourage home gardening, improve access to nutritious food and empower families to participate actively in food production.

She noted that the distribution of seed packs has helped reshape public perception of agriculture and inspired many residents to embrace farming as a practical means of improving household nutrition and livelihoods.

“Mrs Ngozi Obiano’s testimony reflects the broader vision behind this initiative and the collective progress we have made since we began distributing free hybrid, non-GMO seed packs to households, schools and communities across Anambra State,” she said.

Dr. Soludo disclosed that thousands of beneficiaries have recorded positive outcomes from the programme, adding that their experiences continue to demonstrate the value of providing communities with the tools needed to grow their own food.

She further stated that the initiative is contributing to the local economy by helping families reduce food expenditure while creating opportunities for additional income through the sale of surplus produce.

According to her, increased participation in home gardening and small-scale farming is strengthening food security at the grassroots and encouraging a culture of productivity and self-reliance among residents.

The Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo founder also observed that local food production has become increasingly important in addressing rising food costs, noting that sustainable agricultural practices can help communities become more resilient and less dependent on external food supplies.

She reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to expanding the programme across the state, stressing that the pursuit of food sufficiency, enterprise development and healthy living remains central to its mission.

“We are not done yet. Our journey towards food sufficiency, enterprise and healthy living continues, and I am encouraged that we are steadily moving closer to our main goal,” she added.
