Information Minister Urges Peace, Unity At Eid-el-Maulud

Mnena Iyorkegh, Abuja

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, compassion, patience and unity as the country commemorates this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

In a goodwill message to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world, the Minister said the celebration offered an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his messages of peace, justice, humility and respect for others.

Idris noted that these values remained vital as the nation continued to implement economic and social reforms aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth and development.

According to him, the Nigerian Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remained committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria through reforms focused on strengthening the economy, improving security, developing infrastructure, and expanding opportunities for education, skills development and enterprise.

“The progress being made requires patience, sacrifice and a shared commitment from all Nigerians,” Idris said.

He called on citizens to continue supporting efforts to build a more secure, stable and prosperous nation while ensuring that vulnerable members of society were not left behind.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to put the teachings of Prophet Muhammad into practice by showing kindness to one another, rejecting hatred and division, and promoting peaceful coexistence within their communities.

He appealed to Muslims and other Nigerians to remember the less privileged during the celebration and extend assistance to those in need.

“Let us embody the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in our daily lives by showing kindness to one another, rejecting hatred and division, and promoting peaceful coexistence in our communities,” he said.

Idris prayed that the occasion would strengthen the faith of Muslims, deepen Nigerians’ commitment to peace and unity, and bring blessings to families and communities across the country.

He also prayed for divine guidance for the nation’s leaders and lasting peace, security and prosperity for Nigeria.

“May Allah continue to guide our leaders, protect our nation and grant Nigeria lasting peace, security and prosperity,” the Minister said.

He wished Muslims across Nigeria and beyond a “Eid-el-Maulud Mubarak.”
