The Kano State Government in North West Nigeria says it has executed more than 1,508 developmental projects valued at over ₦928 billion across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas as part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s infrastructure and development agenda.
The Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, disclosed this during a press briefing on the administration’s projects and infrastructure development.
According to the commissioner, 799 projects have been completed, while 709 others are at various stages of completion.

He stated that 619 constituency projects are also being implemented across the 44 local government areas through members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
He explained that the projects cover critical sectors including urban renewal, road construction, security, education, healthcare and rural infrastructure.
The commissioner said the government invested ₦169 billion in urban renewal projects, including road rehabilitation, drainage construction and other metropolitan improvements.
He further revealed that over ₦118 billion was committed to the construction of 5-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas, while more than ₦6.86 billion was allocated for the construction of Neighbourhood Watch security divisions in 36 LGAs to strengthen community security.
“The largest investment, amounting to over ₦397 billion, was directed towards rural infrastructure projects spanning education, healthcare, roads and other social services across the state,” he said.
Speaking on the government’s commitment, Sumaila said the ministry would continue to ensure strict compliance with due process and quality standards in project execution.
“The administration remains committed to sustaining development momentum across the State through strategic investment, project monitoring, and transparent procurement processes.”
He stressed that the ministry would continue to safeguard public resources by ensuring that all projects conform to approved specifications and deliver value for money.
“The Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation remains committed to ensuring value for money and quality project delivery through effective monitoring of all developmental projects across Kano State.”
The commissioner noted that the ongoing investments are aimed at improving urban infrastructure, expanding access to education and healthcare, enhancing security, boosting rural development and strengthening the state’s economic growth.
