Nasarawa Assembly Confirms 8 Commissioner Nominees

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed eight commissioner nominees presented by Governor Abdullahi Sule following their screening during plenary in Lafia.

Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, disclosed this after the screening exercise and congratulated the nominees on their appointments, urging them to uphold integrity and accountability if eventually sworn in.

The confirmed nominees are Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo from Wamba Local Government Area, Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed from Lafia Local Government Area and Mohammed Baba Shehu from Keffi Local Government Area.

Others are Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye from Obi Local Government Area, Adamu Rabecca Kpadji from Wamba Local Government Area, Nawani Aboki from Doma Local Government Area, Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim from Nasarawa Local Government Area, and Ashefo Daniel Paul from Lafia Local Government Area.

“Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye from Obi LGA, Adamu Rabecca Kpadji from Wamba LGA, Nawani Aboki from Doma LGA, Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim FCNA, from Nasarawa LGA, and Ashefo Daniel Paul, Ph.D, from Lafia LGA,” he said.

Jatau directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to Governor Sule for further necessary action.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Suleiman Yakubu Azara, moved a motion for the confirmation of the nominees, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

The House unanimously screened and confirmed the nominees following favourable testimonies from lawmakers representing their respective local government areas.

The confirmation followed the presentation of the eight nominees by Governor Sule to the House on August 5, 2026.

In a related development, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly passed for first reading a bill seeking to establish the College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Obi, and provide for other matters connected with the institution.

The bill, sponsored by the member representing Obi One Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Dr Ibrahim Peter Akwe, was presented for first reading and seconded by Esson Mairiga.

The House unanimously approved the bill for first reading.

Speaker Jatau subsequently scheduled the second reading of the bill for August 25, 2026.
