Nasarawa: INEC announces winners of Senatorial Districts

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Godiya Akwashiki of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Aliyu Wadada of the same party and Ogoshi Onawo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winners of Saturday’s election for Nasarawa North, West and Southern Senatorial Districts.

The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Ilemona Adofu of Federal University, Lafia, in the early hours of Monday in Akwanga, declared Akwashiki as the winner with 44,471 votes.

Akwashiki defeated the former Executive Secretary, of the National Judicial Commission (NJC), Danladi Halilu-Envuluanza of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) who scored 32,058 votes.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nasarawa South Senatorial District of Nasarawa State, Mr Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has been declared the winner in the  National Assembly elections.

Returning Officer of the election, Professor Ahmed Yakubu Ashuku while announcing the results said Mr Ogoshi Onawo got 93,064 votes.

He stated that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC Senator Tanko Almakura scored 76813 votes.

Similarly, for the Nasarawa West Senatorial candidate, the SDP candidate, Aliyu Wadada Ahmed, is to replace Adamu, who had vacated his seat in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly after emerging as National Chairman of the ruling APC.

Announcing the results of the election in Keffi, the Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Nasir Baba, declared Aliyu Wadada Ahmed of the SDP as the winner having polled 96,488 votes to beat APC’s 47,717 votes.
