The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, on her election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and a significant milestone for women in leadership.
In a congratulatory message, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, Aisha Ibrahim, said Badejo-Okusanya’s election reflects her competence, integrity, resilience and unwavering commitment to advancing the legal profession.
According to Ibrahim, the emergence of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria as President of the country’s foremost professional body for legal practitioners underscores the growing recognition of women’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership in institutions that shape Nigeria’s democratic and justice systems.

Describing the outcome of the election as a defining moment for both the legal profession and Nigerian women, Ibrahim said:
“The election of Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association is a defining moment not only for the legal profession but also for Nigerian women. It reaffirms that competence, integrity and visionary leadership remain the hallmarks of true service.”
“Her emergence sends a powerful message that women are increasingly breaking barriers and making meaningful contributions to nation-building. We are confident that her wealth of experience, sound judgement and commitment to justice will strengthen the Nigerian Bar Association and further promote the rule of law, constitutional democracy and the protection of fundamental human rights.”
Ibrahim noted that Badejo-Okusanya’s election would inspire more women and girls to aspire to leadership positions through excellence, diligence and dedication to service.
She also reaffirmed NAWOJ’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Bar Association in promoting access to justice, defending press freedom, advancing gender equality and supporting initiatives that foster national development.
Congratulating the newly elected NBA leadership, Ibrahim said: “On behalf of the entire membership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, I warmly congratulate Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, and wish her a successful, impactful and memorable tenure. We also congratulate all the newly elected national officers of the Nigerian Bar Association and encourage them to work collectively in advancing the ideals of justice, professionalism, equity and national development.”
She expressed confidence that the new NBA leadership would introduce reforms to strengthen the rule of law, uphold the independence of the legal profession and deepen public confidence in the administration of justice.
Ibrahim added that NAWOJ looks forward to a stronger partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association in advancing human rights, protecting media freedom, promoting access to justice and championing the rights and welfare of women, children and other vulnerable groups.
She wished Badejo-Okusanya a successful, impactful and transformative tenure as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
