Speaking at the event, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mariam Bulus, reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to support women journalists during the forthcoming elections.
“Much has been set on the ground to fight violence against women and youths, I want to believe women journalists will do more in these forthcoming elections and the Commission is working to avoid any repetition of unpleasant situations of the past,” Bulus said.

In her lecture, Josephine Ali urged journalists to protect victims of violence in their reportage to avoid re-victimization, and to avoid sensational headlines and personal bias.

The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to share experiences and strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies.
