The Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), said it has intensified preparations for the WSF World Junior Team Squash Championship scheduled to hold from July 20th – 31st, 2026, in Ontario, Canada.
President of the Federation, Sunday Egberipou, said this in Abuja during a news conference. He said the federation would present four male and four female players at the championship.
Egberipou said the competition, regarded as one of the most prestigious events organised by the World Squash Federation, would provide exposure and competitive experience for the players.

“We believe our players will not only gain exposure but also achieve impressive results at the championship,” he said.
According to him, 12 players are currently in camp in Abuja, while only eight players and three coaches will eventually represent Nigeria at the tournament.
The male team is captained by 16-year-old Daniel Akpan, while 19-year-old Delight Allison would lead the ladies team.

“The second phase of camping started on April 30 and will end on May 15 in Abuja,” Egberipou added. “The third phase of camping will commence on June 28 before the team’s departure for Canada on July 18.”
The federation president called on corporate organisations, stakeholders and sports enthusiasts to support the team ahead of the championship.
“We need the support of everyone to ensure that our youth remain productive and continue to excel in sports,” he said.
The 2026 WSF World Junior Team Squash Championships is expected to host over 200 of the world’s top under-19 athletes representing dozens of nations.
