The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has said the party would strengthen the foundations of the Nigerian economy through growth-oriented policies and greater scrutiny of the nation’s resources.
Duke, in a statement, said the well-being of Nigerians, rather than the volume of foreign reserves, should be the key measure of economic performance.
According to him, employment indices and income per capita should be prioritised in assessing the health of the Nigerian economy.

Duke further called for a responsive administration that would develop Nigeria’s natural resources while investing in productive manpower to improve the livelihoods of citizens.
He took a swipe at the economic policies of the Bola Tinubu administration, saying there was a need to review them as Nigerians were facing challenges as a result of the initiative.
Duke, however, observed that the ongoing exchanges between the Tinubu administration and leading opposition parties showed that the Federal Government had no intention of reviewing or changing its key economic policies.
He described the current approach to fuel subsidy management as poorly implemented, arguing that it had further devalued the naira, impoverished citizens and weakened the economy.
The PRP presidential candidate called for an end to what he described as “pandering debates,” urging the government to adopt well-informed and strategically designed policies capable of stimulating economic growth and reducing poverty.
