Chris Isiguzo, former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has commended Nigeria’s security agencies for their efforts in safeguarding lives and maintaining stability across the country.
Speaking at the National Security Summit organised by the NUJ in Abuja on Thursday, Isiguzo said the ability to hold such a gathering in the Federal Capital Territory reflects the ongoing efforts and commitment of security personnel.
He urged journalists to exercise caution, balance and responsibility in reporting and critiquing the nation’s security situation, stressing that security operatives work under difficult and complex conditions.

According to him, members of the security services are also family men and women—fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters—who continue to give their best within challenging circumstances and therefore deserve encouragement alongside constructive scrutiny.
Isiguzo further advocated regular engagement between heads of security agencies and media executives, noting that such interactions would promote better understanding of security realities and provide context that may not always be reflected in public reporting.
