President Cyril Ramaphosa will travel to Botswana on Wednesday for the 6th Session of the South Africa-Botswana Bi‑National Commission, BNC, a high‑level platform that guides, cooperation between the two neighbours across various sectors.
Ramaphosa and host President Duma Boko are expected to review progress in sectors including agriculture, energy, health, education, transport, mining, and security.
The South African leader will also tour the Botswana Vaccine Institute to assess joint efforts to combat animal diseases such as foot‑and‑mouth.
The two Presidents will further address the Botswana-South Africa Business Forum, where private‑sector leaders will explore new investment opportunities and deepen commercial partnerships.
South Africa remains Botswana’s largest trading partner while the two governments collaborate closely on cross‑border security, industrialisation, and regional integration.
At the last BNC in 2022, the two sides agreed to tackle trade barriers and accelerate joint industrial projects.
The visit underscores the depth of bilateral ties between the two countries whose relationship is anchored in decades of political solidarity and strong economic interdependence.
