The People of Southeast Nigeria will continue to support President Bola Tinubu due to the massive Federal Government projects in the region.
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, made the statement at Onueke in the Ezza-South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State while leading an inspection tour of Federal Government projects in the state by the Renewed Hope National Media Tour team led by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Bayo Ononuga.
The major projects inspected include the dualisation of the Onueke highway and flyover and the Abakaliki-Afikpo-Ndibe Beach Trans-Sahara Highway.
On Onueke highway, Umahi said that the project was strategic to economic growth, describing it as one of the legacy projects of President Tinubu to the South East.
“This road aimed at improving transportation and driving economic growth of the country,” Umahi said.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu, Bayo Ononuga expressed satisfaction on the quality projects of federal government going on in the region.
The Acting Federal Controller of Works in Ebonyi, Mr Maxwell Okonkwo, said the 90-metre Onueke flyover with 2.2 kilometres on the sides was to decongest traffic on the route.
He said the project would stimulate economic activity on the route as well as evacuation of agricultural produce and others.
“Ebonyi has a very big environment for agricultural produce and also other minerals, such as granites and lead, which are supposed to be transported out to other neighbouring states.
“Yes, here in Onueke, we have a 90-metre flyover with 2.2 kilometres on the sides; it decongests traffic down here. The main aim of this project is to stimulate economic activities on this route,” he stated.
A resident of the Abaomege Community, Onicha Local Government Area of the state, hailed the federal government projects in the state, especially the Abakaliki-Apkooha-Afikpo highway.
He thanked God that the construction of the road is happening in his time, adding that it is a good thing for the people of the entire southeastern region.
