Troops Foil Multiple Kidnap Attempts in Plateau, Kaduna

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have foiled multiple kidnapping attempts across Plateau and Kaduna States, rescued victims and sustained pursuit operations against criminal elements targeting communities and major routes within the joint operations area.

The coordinated rescue across Riyom, Bokkos and Sanga Local Government Areas reflect continued military pressure on criminal networks seeking to exploit vulnerable corridors and communities.

The troops of Sector 6 deployed in Sopp District, Plateau State, responded to reports of suspected kidnappers blocking the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sayin axis as contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.

The statement disclosed that troops discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Honda vehicle on the highway and immediately launched a search operation into surrounding bushes.

The response led to the rescue of six passengers who had been abducted while travelling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Jos.

While the rescued victims were recovered safely, troops continue efforts to locate the missing driver and apprehend the attackers.

In another intervention, troops of Sector 5 operating in Bokkos Local Government Area responded to a distress call from Faggem Village after criminals attempted to abduct residents.

The arrival of troops forced the attackers to abandon their targets and retreat into nearby forest areas.

The operation resulted in the rescue of a pastor and his wife, who were evacuated for medical attention after sustaining injuries during the attack.

Troops have continued aggressive tracking operations to locate the fleeing sspects.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 7 deployed at Ungwan Gora, Sanga Local Government Area, responded to reports of suspected terrorists blocking the Rafi Tagwai–Angwan Dariya highway.

The statement noted that troops discovered passengers from a commercial vehicle had been kidnapped and recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition from the area.

During the rescue effort, troops entered adjoining forest locations and successfully recovered two injured passengers, who were evacuated to a medical facility in Fadan Karshi for treatment.

Operations remain ongoing to locate other victims and disrupt the criminal elements involved.

Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining deliberate operations aimed at securing highways, communities and vulnerable locations within its area of responsibility.

The Joint Task Force urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information that could support ongoing security operations.
