Chief Of Staff Commends INEC

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has hailed the professional conduct of the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Gambari spoke with newsmen after casting his vote at polling unit 004 Akanbi ward, in Ilorin South local government area of Kwara State, North Central Nigeria.

The Chief of Staff who  also hailed the orderliness of the voters in the area said he was very pleased about the professionalism displayed by INEC staff, the ordery conduct of the voters.

“I want to advise Nigerians just like the president did, to vote for a president that will meet their aspirations,” he said.

Gambari  urged  Nigerians to accept the outcome of the exercise as announced by the INEC and not on social media platforms.

He also counselled aggrieved candidates to  approach the courts to seek redress and that there should not be violence of any kind.

Peaceful elections in Kwara

Peaceful atmosphere and orderliness on Saturday characterised the presidential election in most parts of Ilorin, the state capital.

It is observed that there was a high level of compliance among the people as streets were deserted and vehicles were away from major roads of the state.

It was also gathered that there was enthusiasm on the side of electorate as many of them had come out to exercise their civic rights as early as 8:00 am local time.

However, investigations gathered that INEC officials and voting materials did not get to many polling booths as at 9:30 am.

It was also gathered that commercial activities and transportation of goods and passengers by commercial transporters, as well as free movement were going on in many communities in the interior parts of the state capital during the time of accreditation for the elections.

Also in an interview with the  Ilorin Zonal Commander of EFCC, Mr Michael Nzekwe said they were on the field to guide against vote buying.
