Nigerian Stock Market Starts Week with 0.79% Increase

The Nigerian equities market kicked off this week’s trading with the benchmark index rising by 0.79%.

Specifically, the All-Share Index rose from 140,545.69 basis points to 141,659.00 basis points, gaining 1,113.31 points or 0.79%, while the year-to-date (YTD) increase stood at +37.63%.

Market capitalisation also rose by 0.79% or ₦704 billion to close the day at ₦89.626 trillion, compared to Friday’s close of ₦88.922 trillion, with a year-to-date (YTD) increase of +42.00%.

Monday’s trading ended with the total volume of shares traded increasing by 27.69% to 555.12 million units, while value rose by 48.96% to ₦24.08 billion, exchanged in 31,578 deals.

UACN was the most traded stock by both volume and value at 67.17 million units of shares and ₦4.495 billion, respectively. In total, 32 stocks gained, while 30 stocks declined.

LIVINGTRUST MORTGAGE BANK PLC topped the gainers’ chart with a rise in market price from ₦4.62 per share to ₦5.08 per share, gaining ₦0.46 or 9.96%.

E-TRANZACT INTERNATIONAL PLC followed with a rise from ₦14.95 per share to ₦16.40 per share, gaining ₦1.45 or 9.70%.

REGENCY ASSURANCE PLC was next with a rise from ₦1.66 per share to ₦1.82 per share, gaining ₦0.16 or 9.64%.

On the decliners’ table, MCNICHOLS PLC recorded a fall in price from Friday’s ₦3.94 per share to ₦3.55 per share, losing ₦0.39 or -9.90%.

This was followed by HONEYWELL FLOUR MILL PLC, which fell from ₦23.00 per share to ₦20.90 per share, losing ₦2.10 or -9.13%.

UACN PLC trailed with a fall from ₦73.00 per share to ₦67.15 per share, losing ₦5.85 or -8.01%.
