New NOA Director Assumes Duty in Kwara State

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kwara State has announced the appointment of Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar as its new State Director.

His appointment follows the retirement of the immediate past State Director, Alhaji Dare Abdulganiyu.

The announcement was made during a formal handover ceremony in Ilorin, marking the end of Abdulganiyu’s distinguished career and the beginning of a new chapter for the agency in the state.

Alhaji Abdulganiyu, who recently attained the mandatory retirement age of 60, served with dedication and distinction as the Kwara State Director.

His career with the agency spanned several years, dating back to its days as the Mass Mobilisation for Self-Reliance, Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER).
Known for his jovial disposition and unwavering commitment to promoting national values, Abdulganiyu played a key role in advancing the agency’s mission of fostering patriotism, civic engagement and national unity across Kwara State.

The new State Director, Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar, who hails from Baruten Local Government Area in Kwara North Senatorial District, brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the position.

Having served extensively as a Community Mobilisation Officer (COMO), he is well positioned to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and further advance the agency’s objectives in the state.

A dedicated public servant and accomplished educationist, Abubakar most recently served as Deputy Director, Planning, Research and Strategy, NOA, Kwara State, before assuming his new role.

In his inaugural address, Abubakar expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve as the new State Director and pledged to uphold the core values of the agency.

He acknowledged the support of the agency’s management and staff and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting greater public participation in national reorientation programmes, with particular emphasis on leveraging modern technology to reach communities across the state.

“I am deeply honoured to take on this role, and I look forward to continuing the work of promoting national unity, civic responsibility and patriotism in Kwara,” he said.

With the support of the dedicated NOA team, I am confident that we will achieve even greater milestones in advancing the agency’s vision, mission and objectives.”

The ceremony was attended by the Kwara State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, and the retired General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Alhaji Ayuba Jimoh Dare.

Also in attendance were senior officials from the NOA North Central Zonal Office, representatives of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as friends and family members, who commended Abdulganiyu for his outstanding contributions to the agency and wished him a fulfilling retirement.
