The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa has reaffirmed the commitment to his constitutional responsibility for Nigeria’s national security following his appointment as Secretary 1 of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, General Musa expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment.
The Minister described the assignment as a call to higher service and pledged to execute the responsibilities attached to the campaign council position with diligence and administrative focus.
He, however, drew a clear distinction between his political assignment and his continuing responsibilities as Minister of Defence, stressing that “the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and the lives and property of citizens remains his primary constitutional mandate.”
General Musa maintained that ongoing military operations, defence-sector reforms and inter-agency security cooperation would continue without interruption and with increased vigour.
He also expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections and called on party members and Nigerians to remain united behind the administration.
