The Kwara State Government has donated essential materials to the State Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The goods were officially presented to the Command on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government by the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alh Abdulganiyu Shuaib Yitta at the Command headquarters.
He acknowledged the enormous task the Correctional Service is doing in the bid to check social misbehaviour in the society, particularly amongst the youths.
“The Administration of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq recognised the Service and the critical role being played to transform the State into a socially responsible state,” the Permanent Secretary said.
He stated that it was the need to ensure that the Service was properly equipped to efficiently carry out its mandate that necessitated the government’s resolve to make the donation.

Yitta also confirmed that the State Government has often extended its assistance and support to the Command several times in past years, thus reflecting the importance it attached to the Service.
He applauded the management and Officers of the Command for their dedication to duty and implored them to ensure the judicious use of the materials assuring of the government continuous support.
Receiving the donation, the State Controller. Mr Femi Tolorunlagba appreciated the State Government for its prompt response to the Service’ request.
He explained that the kind gesture would go a long way to relieve the burden experienced by the inmates in the Command.
Tolorunlagba pledged the total support and cooperation of the State Command to the State Government in achieving a crime free society.
Items donated included computer sets, vocational materials, mattresses and toiletries among others.
