A former PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Godwin Maduka was on Wednesday unveiled as the governorship candidate of Accord party in the November 6 gubernatorial polls.
The unveiling was during a press conference which took place at Dr. Maduka’s campaign office in Awka.
The Anambra State chairman of Accord party, Prince Bartho Igwedibia in his opening remarks said that the candidature of the party’s standard bearer is an opportunity for Accord to take over Government House Awka.
He said that the party has quality men and women in all the nooks and crannies of the state who have the capacity to deliver the governorship candidate.
Prince Igwedibia however solicited the support of Maduka campaign organization to actualize the dream.
Maduka, flanked by his deputy, Mr Ken Obi and other stakeholders disclosed that he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) two years ago when he decided to run for the guber election.

“I left my former party PDP because of the way the primary was conducted where the list of delegates was changed three times in the middle of the game”, Maduka said.
He expressed optimism that many people in other political parties would cast their votes for him on November 6 because he has actually contributed significantly in the making of governors and other political office holders.
Foremost agenda
The Accord gubernatorial hopeful identified social welfare, security, women empowerment, trade and investment as well as employment as the major sectors he would address in his early days as the governor of Anambra State.
He also hopes to address the issue of medical tourism and make Anambra State a tourist medical center as many quality medical practitioners who have gone outside the country for greener pastures would be encouraged to return home.
I will run an inclusive government when elected. Every gender will be ably represented to work together to give Anambra the desired governance. No gender will be greater than the other but the good hands will be co-opted to do work. In America,91% of my workforce are women,” Maduka said while commenting on the role women will play in his government when he is elected.
