The Anambra State Government has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) to host the association’s 99th Annual National Conference, an event expected to attract approximately 5,000 delegates from within and outside the country.
Scheduled to begin on November 3rd, 2026, the conference is anticipated to rank among the largest gatherings of healthcare professionals in West Africa.
The state’s commitment to hosting the event was reaffirmed during a visit by top officials of the PSN to the Government House in Awka. Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Ben Nwankwo, assured the delegation of the government’s full support towards ensuring a successful conference.
Dr Nwankwo stated that the government would provide essential logistical assistance and make available suitable facilities required for the smooth conduct of the programme.
He noted that Anambra’s selection as host state reflects growing recognition of its achievements in infrastructure, healthcare development, and economic growth.

According to him, the conference will also offer visitors the opportunity to explore some of the state’s modern leisure and tourism destinations, including Solution Fun City and the Anambra State Country Club.
The event, branded “Ijele 2026”, takes its inspiration from the famous Ijele masquerade of Igbo tradition, which represents excellence, prestige, and leadership.
To facilitate effective planning, Dr Nwankwo disclosed that the state government would constitute a Local Organising Committee that would work closely with the national leadership of the PSN.
Speaking on behalf of the society, the National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm.
Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, praised the Soludo administration for its efforts in governance reforms, infrastructure expansion, and investment promotion.
He explained that the choice of Anambra as the conference venue demonstrates the confidence of pharmaceutical stakeholders in the state’s industrial growth, healthcare policies, and investor-friendly environment.
Ibrahim further noted that the conference would serve as a build-up to the society’s centenary celebrations in 2027, commemorating 100 years since its establishment in 1927.

The conference is expected to assemble pharmacists, pharmaceutical researchers, healthcare practitioners, policymakers, regulators, investors, and key industry players from different parts of the country and beyond.
