The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded a fresh increase in confirmed Ebola infections, with health authorities reporting a cumulative total of 1,155 cases, including 304 deaths.
According to the latest government situation report, the figures were based on confirmed cases as of Wednesday.
The report indicated that 37 new infections and five additional deaths were documented within the previous 24 hours, underscoring the continued spread of the disease.
Health officials attributed the rise in reported cases to enhanced surveillance efforts, which have improved the early identification and confirmation of infections across affected communities.
“Intensified epidemiological and biological surveillance has enabled earlier detection of cases, confirming continued growth in community transmission on a week-on-week basis,” the report stated.
The authorities noted that strengthened monitoring and laboratory testing have made it possible to detect infections more rapidly, allowing response teams to track the outbreak more effectively.
Despite these efforts, officials warned that community transmission remains active and urged continued vigilance, stressing the importance of sustained public health interventions to contain the outbreak and prevent further loss of lives.
