Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has revealed that he is currently working on a sequel to his first film as a director, Seven Doors.
Adebayo released the six-part miniseries in December 2024. The series earned multiple nominations and awards, including wins at the Best of Nollywood Awards and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
On VJ Adams Live, the actor shared insights into his creative approach, mentioning that he frequently revisits his previous work when getting ready to produce sequels.
He mentioned that he is currently rewatching Seven Doors as part of his preparation for the sequel. He also referenced ‘Jagun Jagun’ and ‘Ageshinkole’ as examples where he used the same method, reviewing the original before creating the sequel.
He said, “I usually watch my films again after they’ve been released, especially when I’m about to make a follow-up”.
Adebayo noted that viewer feedback helps him identify areas of improvement in future productions.
He added, “I also read people’s comments, whether positive or negative, on my films because it helps me figure out how to improve.”
At the AMVCA, ‘Seven Doors’ won awards for Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress. That same year, at the BON Awards, it received four honors: Best Series, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, and Best Special Effects.
