Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda says the Federal Government’s economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have strengthened the financial capacity of states to execute development projects without excessive reliance on borrowing.
Governor Radda stated this at a programme organised by the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA), where he highlighted the impact of the reforms on the finances of states and local governments.
The governor said Katsina State was no longer depending solely on funds from the Federal Government to implement its development programmes.
He explained that the state had built financial reserves which could enable it to continue funding its activities for months, even in the event of delays in receiving expected funds.
“Today in Katsina State, we are not waiting for Abuja to give us money. We have money saved. If we do not receive funds for two months, we can continue with our programmes,” he said.

Radda said the improved financial position had enabled the state to undertake projects with less dependence on loans, thereby reducing the debt burden on government.
He attributed the development to prudent financial management at the state level, as well as measures by the Tinubu administration that had increased resources available to sub-national governments.

The governor said the additional funds had provided states and local governments with greater capacity to execute infrastructure projects and improve the delivery of essential services.
He assured that his administration would continue to promote fiscal discipline and responsible management of public resources to ensure sustainable development in Katsina State.
Radda also urged Nigerians to support reforms aimed at strengthening the economy and improving the financial capacity of governments at all levels.
