The Nigerian Government says all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.
The government assured students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that necessary arrangements are in place to support a safe, smooth and seamless commencement of the new academic session.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, in an official statement gave the assurance in Abuja, noting that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“Relevant security agencies have been duly informed of the resumption arrangements and are maintaining heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments,” Dr Alausa stated.
He explained that the coordinated efforts are aimed at safeguarding students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.
The Minister therefore urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with their preparations, ensuring that their children and wards return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday as scheduled.
He also directed “school authorities to maintain close coordination with relevant security agencies and other appropriate authorities to facilitate an orderly and secure resumption.”
Dr Alausa further called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together in maintaining a peaceful, supportive and secure school environment, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of learners remain a shared responsibility.

He said the Federal Ministry of Education will continue to monitor developments and take all necessary measures, in collaboration with the appropriate authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
“The Ministry remains firmly committed to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that Nigerian children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.”
“This commitment is in line with the RenewedHope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which recognises education and human capital development as essential to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development,” Dr Alausa explained.
The Federal Ministry of Education assures students, parents, guardians, teachers and the general public that all necessary arrangements are in place to support a safe, peaceful and successful resumption in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
