Tanzanian champions Young Africans have become the first club to secure a place in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League group stage after defeating Madagascar’s CFFA 4–1 in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
Known popularly as Yanga, the Tanzanian giants advanced with an emphatic 8–1 aggregate victory, having won the first leg 4–0 last Saturday. Both matches were played at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam after the two clubs agreed to stage the fixtures at the same venue.
Young Africans dominated proceedings once again, with Ibrahim Kazimoto opening the scoring shortly before the half-hour mark to give the hosts a commanding aggregate advantage.

Selemani Mwalimu extended the lead four minutes into the second half before completing his brace in the 53rd minute, putting Yanga firmly in control of the encounter.

CFFA managed to pull a goal back in the 75th minute, but the Malagasy side had little chance of overturning the substantial deficit.
Juma Issa Abushiri completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, sealing a 4–1 victory and triggering celebrations among the home supporters.
The qualification marks Young Africans’ fourth consecutive appearance in the Champions League group stage, underlining their growing consistency in African club football.
Yanga will now await the remaining 15 qualifiers as they prepare for the group-stage campaign, scheduled to begin in November 2026.
