A former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, urging him to remain focused on good governance and the people’s welfare.

Obasanjo made the call when he paid a surprise congratulatory visit to Governor Adeleke at his country home in Ede.

The former President, who was accompanied by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, was warmly received by the governor amidst songs and praise in thanksgiving for the successful outcome of the election.

During the visit, Obasanjo prayed for continued success for Governor Adeleke and urged him “to use his renewed mandate to deliver meaningful development to the people of Osun.”

“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” the former president advised the Governor.

Governor Adeleke expressed deep appreciation for the surprise visit, describing the moment as ”a gesture that strengthens his resolve to serve the people the more.”

Adeleke thanked God, the people of Osun State and supporters of democracy for the electoral victory, while pledging to remain committed to their trust.

“ I thank you for this surprise visit your excellency. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” Govenror Adeleke said.

The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, accompanied Governor Adeleke in receiving the former President.

The visit comes on heels of the victory at the polls on Saturday, earning the governor a second term in office. The win is expected to enable Adeleke consolidate his administration’s programmes and fulfil the mandate renewed by the people of Osun State.
