The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji has promised to institute insurance scheme, non-interest loans, grants and inclusive governance for market men and women if elected governor in the coming August 15 election.
Oyebamiji who was endorsed by hundreds of market men and women, maintained that traders would be part of his government and all their needs and wants shall be meticulously attended to.
He pledged not to abandon the marketers after the election, promising to deliver good governance to enhance trade and commerce in the state.
According to Oyebamjii, the good governance will include provision of insurance scheme to the traders and strengthening the financial base of their cooperative societies through facilitation of grants from international donors as well as federal, state and local government agencies.
Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, promised to make interest free loans available to the market women and men, assuring them that their financial wellbeing and the market development or modernisation would be given top priority in his government.
“I won’t disappoint you by the grace of God.
We won’t deceive you. You will be included in my government. It is going to be an inclusive one. I have already discussed with our market leaders on the needs of the Sabo and other markets. I promised that once we are in power, we will attend to these needs and ensure their implementation. As market men and women, you will surely enjoy the dividends of democracy during my administration.

“Just as we told traders at Igbonna Market, every trader will personally feel the impact of our government. You will know that your government truly cares for you. We will facilitate grants that you will not be required to repay. There are development partners, including those overseas that support such programmes, and we will engage them on behalf of our fathers and mothers in the markets because we know you will use the funds responsibly.
“We will also strengthen your cooperative societies and work with the Federal Government to ensure that grants and affordable loans are made available to traders.”
While announcing a donation of N10 million to the traders, the APC candidate expressed optimism of victory at the poll come August 15.
Also speaking at the endorsement rally, the Director General of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamjii (AMBO) Campaign Council, Wole Oke, said all the promises made by Oyebamiji would be delivered.
While advising the electorates against selling of votes or trading of voter’s card for momentary gain, Oke promised that Oyebamjii’s election will facilitate plethora of opportunities from the federal and state governments to the market men and women.
