This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of Nigeria, Fyneray Mbata, in Abuja.
According to the statement, the award was conferred on Hon. Ugbor in recognition of his outstanding personal leadership and unwavering commitment, which have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the recycling sector in Nigeria.
“His efforts in promoting sustainable environmental practices and supporting policies that encourage recycling have positioned him as a key enabler in the industry. The honour recognises Ugbor’s outstanding personal leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the recycling industry in Nigeria,” he said.
He noted that Ugbor’s role in championing initiatives that support recycling infrastructure and circular economy practices has positioned him as a key driver of industry progress.
The recognition underscores the growing momentum within Nigeria’s recycling ecosystem, where public-private collaboration is increasingly seen as vital to addressing environmental challenges.
The conference also served as a platform for dialogue on how Nigeria can accelerate its transition toward a cleaner, more resource-efficient future.
Mbata, who represented the lawmaker at the ceremony, received the award on his behalf, noting that Ugbor’s legislative and advocacy efforts have helped strengthen policies that promote sustainable waste management and environmental protection.
