The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), has commenced a flood disaster simulation exercise to test the preparedness and response capabilities of emergency management agencies and other critical stakeholders in Adamawa State.
The exercise focuses on early warning, evacuation, search and rescue, emergency response and effective coordination among relevant agencies during flood emergencies.
The NEMA delegation, led by the Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Bature Usman, disclosed this during a briefing with the Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, in Yola.

Usman said the simulation would take place on Thursday at Bakin Kogi in Yola North Local Government Area.
He explained that the exercise was designed to strengthen coordination among relevant stakeholders and enhance the state’s capacity to prepare for and respond effectively to flood disasters.
The NEMA director commended the Adamawa State Government for its continued support and commitment to disaster preparedness and response.
Responding, Deputy Governor Farauta commended NEMA, ADSEMA and other participating stakeholders for organising the simulation, describing it as a timely initiative that would further strengthen the state’s preparedness for possible flooding.
Farauta assured the delegation of the state government’s continued support and cooperation to ensure the success of the exercise and improve disaster risk management across the state.
She urged the trainees to take the exercise seriously and acquire the necessary skills for evacuating and rescuing flood victims during emergencies.
The meeting was attended by NEMA Zonal Director, North East, Mr Sulaiman Yakubu; Acting Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr Abbani Imam Garki; and Head of NEMA Yola Operations Office, Mr Ladan Ayuba, among other officials.
